How to Install and Set Up Newsbin Pro with your Usenet Account


The first step in Configuring Newsbin is to check the Options Menu to dictate the folder in which messages will be Downloaded

Step 1 - Download Newbin Pro from here

Step 2 - Once you have Downloaded the program to your computer, double click on the file to begin the install process.
Note: Be sure to close all existing programs before continuing the install.

Step 3 - Click on "Next" to continue

Step 4 - Click "Agree"

Step 5 - Pick the shortcuts that you would like Newsbin to make and press "Next"

Step 6 - This will automatically create the directory in your Program Files folder to install. Unless you wish to install in a different directory (not recommended), press "Next" to continue.

Step 7 - Press "Next" again to allow Newsbin to create the folder for Data Files. The program will then install all necessary files.

Step 8 - After pressing "Next" after the program has installed the files, enter in the Newsdemon server address here. The newsserver address is : Press "Next" after entering in the newsserver address and click on the "Check this box if your news server requires that you log in with a username and password".

NOTE: For Unlimited Accounts, the newserver address may be:


Please check in your email confirmation or in your member login area to confirm the address.
Also, if you have a problem connecting, be sure that your ports are configured correctly.
Standard Routing Ports for NORTH AMERICAN SERVER:

The following ports allow you to force packets through specific ports:

  • port(s): 7000 routing: ServerCentral (path1)
  • port(s): 8000 routing: Cogent (path1)
  • port(s): 9000 routing: BtN (path1)

Standard Routing Ports for EUROPEAN SERVERS:

The following ports allow you to force packets through specific ports:

  • port(s): 119, 443 and 8080
  • port(s): 119, 443 and 8080
  • * (THIS IS 256-BIT ENCRYPTED) port(s): 563, 80 and 81
  • * (THIS IS 256-BIT ENCRYPTED) port(s): 563, 80 and 81

Step 9 - On the next screen, enter the name of the server. In this case, NEWSDEMON. Press Next to continue

Step 10 - Here, you will enter the information that you received in your email from Newsdemon. Include your username and password in the available fields and then press Test to be sure the account is active. After completing this step, your next window will allow you to "Launch Newsbin on Exit" of the install. Be sure that the checkbox is clicked.
Note: Some accounts may take up to 15-30 minutes to activate from the time of checkout.
