Multipart Post
A post that is so large it must be split into multiple smaller messages. All parts of the message must be downloaded and reconstructed into one complete message in order to be read. A multipart post is extremely common with most newsgroups, requiring the need to download multiple headers (see headers) in order to have the complete file that the original sender intended. Many forms of a multipart post exist. Most common extensions range from
RAR to
ZIP. These packages often times are packed with a utility software to reduce the size of the message. External programs are often needed, seperate from the newsreader itself, to successfully unpack these messages to reveal the complete file the original sender had intended.
