This is an official Request For Discussion (RFD) for the formation of the
new newsgroup, soc.culture.austria.
Charter for soc.culture.austria
Name: soc.culture.austria
Moderation: unmoderated
Purpose: The purpose of soc.culture.austria is to discuss issues
relating to Austria, such as:
- arts & entertainment
- business
- culture
- development / technology
- education
- history
- information
- music
- news
- politics
- travel / tourism
Rationale: soc.culture.austria will provide a suitable forum
for the discussion of one of the smaller countries
in Europe, not yet in the common market.
Austria is one of the last remaining countries in
Europe that does not have its own newsgroup.
Currently news on Austria in general are often
crossposted to other groups like soc.culture.german.
Wheras Austria has German as native tongue too, it
is spoken differently in everyday usage and has
different dialects and idioms.
Another purpose is to clearly distinguish between
Australia and Austria, and wherever confusion may
arise, a sense of humor is expected.
In this sense this newsgroup would also serve as an
exchange for those who know little or nothing about
Austria.
Rules: Because soc.culture.austria will be unmoderated
format, anyone will be able to post to this newsgroup.
Please refrain from "FLAMES" or INSULTS or unnecessary
criticism of a person. Any criticism should be
constructive, and polite. Any insults, or flames
should be carried personally by e-mail, instead of
posting to the newsgroup. Please post your article in
a mature and responsible way.
Language: The official language of soc.culture.austria will be English
and Deutsch(German), and various forms of dialects, although
other languages are welcome but may not be understood by the
group as a whole!
Followup
discussion: Any followup discussion will be carried out on news.groups.
Discussion
Period: Request For Discussion will last for 30 days.
This RFD will be posted again should there be any changes made.
If there is a desire to create soc.culture.austria after the
discussion period, a Call For Votes will be issued.
You will be notified where to send your vote when the Call For
Votes issued.
You are encourage to participate in this discussions. Please voice your
opinion!!
Thank you.
