The proposed name is "comp.sys.cpc". This will cover every subject related to the CPC and will not be moderated. I would appreciate a response from anyone with comments on this matter. Send follow-ups to "news.announce.newgroups" and "comp.os.cpm". The CPC is an 8-bit machine, three models of which were produced by the British company Amstrad. It is based around a Z80 processor and has 64k of directly accessible memory, which can be expanded to 576k. The CPC Emulator is available in the Emulators directory of the Simtel20 archives/mirrors as CPCEMU09.ZIP. It requires a 386 or above with VGA to run. -- +---------------------------------------------+ | Those were some words of wisdom (?) from... | | David Long: [email protected] | +---------------------------------------------+ From [email protected] Tue May 31 16:06:50 1994 Path: uunet!bounce-back From: [email protected] (Emmanuel Roussin) Newsgroups: news.announce.newgroups,news.groups,comp.os.cpm,comp.sys.misc,comp.sys.sinclair Subject: RFD: comp.sys.amstrad.8bit Followup-To: news.groups Date: 31 May 1994 15:50:21 -0400 Organization: UUNET Communications Lines: 75 Sender: [email protected] Approved: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> NNTP-Posting-Host: rodan.uu.net Xref: uunet news.announce.newgroups:5137 news.groups:105299 comp.os.cpm:10033 comp.sys.misc:5418 comp.sys.sinclair:4540 REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION Group Name: comp.sys.amstrad.8bit Status: unmoderated Distribution: world-wide Summary: Discussions about CPC and PCW hardware/software Proposed by: David Long ([email protected]) Marco Vieth ([email protected]) Emmanuel Roussin ([email protected]) ****************************************************************** NOTE: This is similar to the original RFD: comp.sys.cpc, posted on March 25th, except that : -- the proposed name has been changed to comp.sys.amstrad.8bit to avoid messages from PC users -- the newsgroup if created, will be relayed on BBS : * genesis : the 8bit generation, FIDO 2:320/220 this french BBS will open this summer, * Aspects BBS, FIDO 2:250/107 in U.K. Expect other BBS in the future, we are looking for a bbs in Germany. -- FTP sites with CPC files : * ftp.demon.co.uk in /pub/cpm, specific Amstrad CP/M files, thanks to Paul Martin * ftp.nvg.unit.no (very soon), thanks to Arnt Gulbrandsen The changes were made as the result of on-line discussion.
