The Usenet method of distributing articles is by far more superior in each of these categories. - Discussion on the GNO product (both on the list, and in various other Usenet conferences) suggests that there is overwhelming support for the creation of such a newsgroup. - Creation of this newsgroup would create more ways in which the users and non-users of GNO can communicate. - The volume of letters/articles related to the GNO product have grown dramatically since the product has been released. It is fitting to create a group which will specifically address the matter brought up concerning GNO. - Creation of this group would hopefully stimulate even more discussion and more detailed discussion of specifically related issues. - Any more points? I don't GNO, you tell me! :) ________________________________________________________________ SUMMARY: Basically, I request that the creation of this group be discussed for [no longer than] 30 days. If any changes are proposed which might be seen as fit to modify (a different name for the newsgroup?) the above "proposal", another RFD will be posted. If nothing else comes up, a 31 day voting period will ensue. Any questions may be addressed to [email protected], or [email protected], though I'd rather you battle it out in public. Information on Apple II products is always hard to come by. o	Much information is posted to GNO-L that would be of interest to the general Apple II USENET audience. o	The volume of letters/articles related to the GNO product has grown dramatically since the product was released. The vote to create comp.sys.apple2.gno passed with the following totals: Yes Votes: 207 No Votes: 30 Duplicate email addresses Yes: From: [email protected] (Michael Frankowski) No: The single duplication in the YES votes is a result of two active net people sharing the same account. Even if this vote is thrown out, the vote still passed 206 to 30. The automatic counting and duplication checking script was followed by a hand-check. This removed about 10 duplicate yes votes. ## Script to automatically count votes echo -n "Yes Votes:	" grep From: v.yes | wc -l echo -n "No Votes:	" grep From: v.no | wc -l echo echo "Duplicate email addresses" echo echo "Yes:" grep From: v.yes | sort | uniq -d echo "No:" grep From: v.no | sort | uniq -d ## -- Charter: "comp.sys.apple2.gno is to be founded to discuss the GNO Multitasking Environment and issues related to it." -- After the newsgroup is (tentatively) created a link to the existing GNO-L will be created (on the existing GNO-L host machine) to service those who cannot receive the new newsgroup through regular channels.
