The purpose of this group is to discuss issues pertaining to diabetes, ie: diet, activities, medicine schedules, blood glucose control, exercise, medical breakthroughs,  etc... I feel that a group of this nature would be a good place for people  with IDDM and NIDDM to gain support, and share experiences to help improve their lives. From the information I received on a mailing list alone, I was able to gain more understanding and support for my well being. Please take  this RFD with serious thought. This RFD is intended to supercede the RFD for sci.med.diabetes, and correct for the two major concerns expressed; that the sci.med.* hierarchy should be classified by medical specialties rather than diseases and disorders, and that sci.med.* should be reserved for  technical discussions.  Consistent with the previous RFD, the purpose of misc.health.diabetes is to discuss issues pertaining to diabetes, ie: diet, activities, medicine schedules, blood glucose control, exercise, medical breakthroughs, etc.  This group would address the issues of management of both Type I (insulin dependent) and Type II (non-insulin dependent) diabetes.    Discussions of a technical nature would also be welcome, with the  possibility that they be cross-posted to sci.med.  Should such postings become of significant volume in the future so as to interfere with the discussions on sci.med, an RFD will be forthcoming for the technical  discussion newsgroup sci.med.endocrinology.  Since technical postings already exists on sci.med, this should not cause any real change in the present situation, other than to releave sci.med of the non-technical discussions associated with diabetes.  I am suggesting this change after consulting with the original poster  of the RFD for sci.med.diabetes.  Barring serious objection, this supercedes the RFD for sci.med.diabetes.
