From [email protected] Mon May 16 21:47:17 1994 Path: uunet!bounce-back From: [email protected] (Tim Wadham) Newsgroups: news.announce.newgroups,news.groups,rec.arts.books,misc.kids Subject: RFD: rec.arts.books.childrens Followup-To: news.groups Date: 16 May 1994 14:28:49 -0400 Organization: Texas Metronet, Internet for the Individual 214-705-2917 (info) Lines: 20 Sender: [email protected] Approved: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> NNTP-Posting-Host: rodan.uu.net Xref: uunet news.announce.newgroups:5081 news.groups:103809 rec.arts.books:98269 misc.kids:125707 I would like to propose the creation of a newsgroup called rec.arts.books.childrens Why this newsgroup? The amount of traffic on rec.arts.books is getting very heavy. I note after reading it for several weeks that the volume of postings specifically regarding children's books is sufficient that it would merit a seperate group, and thereby also reduce traffic on rec.arts.books to a more managable level. Also, children's books are a legitimate area for discussion on their own merits. We're not talking kiddie lit here. I envision the tenor of the discussion would be similar to what is currently seen on rec.arts.books. I am open to discussion of any variation of the name and a charter. It's time to give children's books their due on the net. -- Tim Wadham, Asst. Manager/Children's Librarian Polk-Wisdom Library 7151 Library Ln.
