Please refer to this article if you have any questions about the newsgroup creation. *This is not a call for votes. Please do not vote now.* CHARTER Sci.chem.analytical is an unmoderated newsgroup for the discussion of organic and inorganic analytical chemistry. This newsgroup will provide a place for professional analytical chemists to meet and exchange ideas. Topics for discussion will include: - Chromatography - Capillary electrophoresis - Separation techniques - Mass spectrometry - Atomic absorption - Methods of analysis Posting of advertisements by private individuals are not permitted. Product announcements will be allowed provided they are related to topics discussed in the newsgroup and included in followup articles. Sci.chem is renamed sci.chem.misc RATIONALE The current level of discussion in sci.chem is not attracting professional analytical chemists. It is difficult for a busy analytical chemist to justify spending valuable time reading messages concerning recipes for silly putty or requests for help in setting up basement laboratories. A forum where analytical chemists can meet to discuss practical problems and new developments is much needed. Because of technical reasons the newsgroup sci.chem is renamed sci.chem.misc. This is in accordance with the advice given by Usenet Group Advice. PROCEDURE Please post any responses to this message to news.groups. If you use the followup feature on your newsreader, this should happen automatically. All discussion about the merits of this proposal should occur on news.groups. Unless the discussion indicates a need to resubmit a new RFD, a call for votes (CFV) will be posted approximately four weeks after the posting of this RFD. Please do not post any votes - when the CFV is posted, instructions will be given on how to mail your votes to the independent vote counter.
