Background:                 On March 9, [email protected] (Larry W. Jewell) posted the     first RFD for this group. Although he originally called for the     creation of "talk.veterans", he has since agreed that "soc" is     probably a better hierarchy for the group. There was also a     discussion of creation of a veterans group over in "alt", the     proponents over there have agreed to wait for the outcome of a     vote for a mainstream group. Although the group will be primarily      concerned with the issues relating to US veterans, some issues     relate to veterans of all countries. Posters will be encouraged     to limit distribution of articles relating to US-only issues via     the use of the "Distribution: us" header.  --    Mark H.
