Some users placed the word “meow” in their killfiles due to several spammer who had invaded many groups. Long story short, these spammers were posting spam which often contained the word “meow” or other feline references.

Today’s question is a little more challenging and might require some research by the average usenet user.
Question: Why was the word “meow” placed into many experienced usenetters’ “killfiles” in the mid 1990′s?
