Currently, netnews discussion of Burma is relegated to soc.culture.thai and bit.listserv.seasia-l. As for the former, posting to the Thai group is inappropriate, because not only is it a group concerned with another nation, but also a nation whose industrial and political activities vis-a-vis Burma are often called into question. Some people feel that having to discuss Burma on the Thai group is like having to discuss Tibet on a China group -- only sometimes appropriate. As for bit.listserv.seasia-l, open discussion is discouraged by the listowner, because of its primary purpose as a distribution point of non-opinion based news.
