Name: sci.med.radiology

Charter:

More and more radiologists, technologists, sonographers, and
residents are getting connected to the net and need a place to discuss
the daily issues of radiology, whether technologic, clinical or
operational.
Discussions of the physics of radiology and radiologic equipment
have been and should continue to be held in sci.med.physics.
Discussions related to DICOM and connectivity of imaging (and other)
devices are now beginning in comp.protocol.dicom.
The intent would NOT be to provide a forum for telediagnosis, a
la, "My cat scan showed a white blob in the front, what is it?", but
more like discussions ABOUT how to provide telediagnosis, etc.

  Moderation: None

Discussion will remain open for thiry (30) days and barring
significant criticism we anticipate a call for votes on or about
February 5, 1994.

This is the second request for discussion in the tradition of creating
new Usenet newsgroups:

Name: sci.med.radiology

Charter:

There seems to be a need for a place to discuss the clinical,
technological, and operational, and political aspects of
radiology. Discussions of the physics of radiology and radiologic
equipment have been and should continue to be held in
sci.med.physics. Discussions of image processing and computer graphics
have been and should continue to be held in alt.image.medical,
sci.image.processing, and comp.graphics.*, and the AI groups as
appropriate. Discussions concerning image and data communication
between radiologic devices (and others) will hopefully be held more
and more in comp.protocols.dicom.

It is NOT within the charter of this group that it become a place
for telediagnosis, e.g., " My CAT scan shows a white blob in the
front, what is it?". Discussions about how to perform telediagnosis,
etc would be included in the charter.

Moderation: None

As tradition dictates, and pending significant criticism, a Call For
Votes is now planned for early February, 1994.
