                     REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD)
                  unmoderated group

Newsgroup :
Status : Unmoderated
Distribution : Worldwide
Summary : Discussion and creative postings of tv series "V"
Proponent : Andy Williams

This is a formal request for discussion on the creation of an
unmoderated newsgroup,

This RFD has been posted in accordance with the Guidelines for
Newsgroup Creation. This RFD is being posted to the following relevant

     news.announce.newgroups, news.groups, rec.arts.sf.movies,

The RFD and/or CFV may be posted to related mailing lists.
Discussion will take place in news.groups only. Please post
follow-ups to news.groups only.

The purpose of this newsgroup is a place to discuss aspects of the
Warner Brothers television mini-series (V), V - Final Battle and the
hour long series which followed. The intention is to provoke a
lively debate on all aspects of the programme and to provide a
place where creative works pertaining to "V" can be posted and

At the moment there isn't a newsgroup that deals strictly with "V",
yet there seems to be quite a bit of activity recently on with regard to the programme.
I propose that this newsgroup serve as a central area where people
can find out information about the programme and perhaps news
of any possible revival.

The reason for not requesting a separate newsgroup for creative
works is that I feel there will only be a few stories posted
at irregular intervals and thus, will not impinge too much on
the discussions.

After a discussion period of 30 days, if there are no overwhelming
objections to the formation of the group, a CFV will be posted to the
same groups as this RFD. The voting period will be as outlined in the
guidelines (21-31 days). If the vote passes by a majority of 2/3, and
a majority of 100 votes, then the group will be created.
