Usenet Newsgroups – AUP

An Acceptable Use Policy keeps a set of rules that are applicable to network and website owners which limit the use of the network/site from being abused by users. By accepting the conditions and rules of these policies, users agree to conform to the regulations that the network/website adheres to. News Server and Usenet newsgroup providers usually have an AUP which users need to abide by which limits the type of usage to conform to a set standard of complicity. Non-compliance of these policies can lead to certain repercussions dependent on both the agreed AUP and the discretion of the owner. The approach of using an AUP to guide users to behave in a certain fashion on a usenet newsgroup has been of great debate in usenet newsgroups specifically recently. However, the AUP standard is still more common than not with providers of these services.
