Flaming – Interaction between users on the internet isn’t always kind. When users become insultive, the act of flaming insures. Originating off internet forums, the word “Flaming” is a rendition of a comic book term and referenced the “on” and “off” switch of “Flaming” threads. A term to indicate that a particular thread on the forum had been caught on fire by the debate the users were engaged. Flaming is prominent in newsgroups mostly to users who use the group in a negative fashion to either spam or in some way break away from a set of rules created by the newsgroup and respective moderator. Flaming can be considered a breach in TOS by most usenet providers.
