About NewsDemon

We've been providing Usenet access since 2001. Independently owned, independently operated, and built on our own backbone. No corporate parent, no shared infrastructure, no games.

Who We Are

NewsDemon is owned and operated by K&L Technologies, Inc., based in Greenville, South Carolina. We are not a subsidiary of a larger corporation. We are not a brand within a portfolio. We are not affiliated with any other Usenet provider. When we say "independent," we mean it in the fullest sense of the word. Our independence page goes into detail about what that means and why it matters.

We started in 2001 and have been running continuously since. Our team is small and we like it that way. Brent leads support and has been with us for years. Greg runs the company. When you open a support ticket, you're talking to someone who can actually fix the problem, not a script reader.

What We Run

Our Own Backbone

We built and operate our own Usenet backbone infrastructure. Most providers resell access to someone else's servers. We don't. Our article inventory is separate from the shared network that most of the market relies on, which means we carry articles that other providers don't have. Our backbones page explains the technical side.

Three Server Regions

US East (Virginia), US West (California), EU (Netherlands). Every article is replicated across all three. Connect to whichever is closest to you for the best speed. All three regions have the same retention depth.

NVMe Spool Storage

Recent and popular articles sit on NVMe drives that deliver sub-3ms retrieval latency. Older articles are on high-density spinning disk optimized for sequential reads. New content is fast, old content is still accessible.

Exclusive Tape Archive

We recovered a large collection of articles from magnetic tape archives going back over 20 years. This content was never migrated by other providers and exists nowhere else on Usenet. Every NewsDemon member has access to it. More details on our retention page.

What Every Plan Includes

The $3/month metered plan gets the same features as the unlimited annual. We don't gate things behind premium tiers.

5,695+ days retention (binary and text, growing daily) including exclusive tape archive content.

50 SSL connections per account. 256-bit encryption on every connection.

Unlimited speed. No throttling, no caps, no "fair use" slowdowns.

Free VPN. SlickVPN included with every plan. No-logging VPN for use alongside Usenet or independently.

Free posting. Post to text and binary newsgroups at no extra charge. We don't inject your IP into article headers.

Free headers. Header access is included on all plans.

24/7 support. Every day, every plan. Real people, fast responses.

30-day money-back guarantee. No questions, no hassle.

What We Don't Do

We don't raise prices on existing members to fund acquisition campaigns for new ones.

We don't operate "review sites" that rank our own service at #1. Our review sites page explains why that matters.

We don't resell someone else's backbone and call it our own.

We don't log which newsgroups you visit or which articles you download.

We don't share or sell your personal information. Ever.
