Usenet op mobiel: Apps and Remote Management

The most common way to use Usenet on mobile is not to download on the phone itself, but to manage downloads remotely. SABnzbd and NZBGet both have web interfaces that work in any mobile browser. You can add NZBs, monitor progress, and manage your queue from your phone while your home computer or NAS does the actual downloading.

That said, there are dedicated mobile apps if you want to download directly on a mobile device or browse text newsgroups on the go.

SABnzbd Mobile Interface

SABnzbd has a built-in mobile-responsive web interface. Access it by navigating to your SABnzbd URL from your phone browser. You can add NZBs via URL, pause/resume downloads, check completion status, and manage your queue. If you have set up external access (port forwarding or a VPN to your home network), you can manage downloads from anywhere.

NZBGet Mobile Interface

NZBGet also has a web interface that works on mobile browsers. Same capabilities: add NZBs, monitor downloads, manage queue. The interface is functional on mobile though not specifically designed for small screens.

Third-Party Apps

nzb360 (Android) is the most popular mobile app for managing Usenet downloads. It connects to SABnzbd and NZBGet, plus Sonarr, Radarr, and other automation tools from a single app. Add to your queue, manage downloads, and monitor your entire stack from your phone.

LunaSea (iOS and Android) is an open-source alternative that also manages SABnzbd, NZBGet, Sonarr, Radarr, and Lidarr from one interface. Free with no ads.

iOS

There are limited options for direct Usenet downloading on iOS due to App Store restrictions. Most iOS users manage downloads remotely using nzb360 or LunaSea, or access their SABnzbd/NZBGet web interface through Safari.

Android

EasyNZB is an Android NZB downloader that connects directly to your Usenet provider and downloads to your phone. Supports SSL, multiple servers, and PAR2 repair. Useful if you want to download files directly to your Android device.

For text newsgroup browsing on Android, Groundhog and similar NNTP clients let you read and post to discussion newsgroups.

For most mobile users, the real goal is managing their Usenet workflow remotely rather than downloading directly on the phone. Mobile apps let you add items to your queue, monitor progress, and manage your setup from anywhere.

The mobile workflow: use automation tools from your phone to add items to your download queue. Your home system handles the download via NewsDemon automatically. No direct Usenet interaction needed on the phone at all.

If you are connecting directly to NewsDemon from a mobile device, use the same settings as desktop:

Server: news.newsdemon.com
Port: 563 (SSL)
Connections: 5-10 (mobile does not need 50)
SSL: Always enable, especially on public Wi-Fi
